Chinese astronauts complete nine-hour spacewalk at Tiangong space station

Chinese astronauts complete nine-hour spacewalk at Tiangong space station. China has recently achieved a significant milestone in space exploration. Their space agency has set a new record during a spacewalk, reflecting their technological advancement and development of space program. This success strengthens China’s space research capabilities internationally. China has achieved a major milestone in space exploration when two astronauts aboard the Tiangong space station completed a nine-hour spacewalk, setting a new global record.

This record surpasses the record of 8 hours and 56 minutes set by US astronauts James Voss and Susan Helms on March 12, 2001. It was the longest EVA since that mission on the space shuttle Discovery. Its purpose was to repair the space station, install equipment, and test new technologies.

Achievements of the astronaut :-

  • Cai Xuzhe :- Mission commander Cai Xuzhe completed his second spacewalk after a 5.5-hour EVA in November 2022.
  • Song Lingdong :- This was Song Lingdong’s first EVA, making him the first Chinese astronaut born in the 1990s to perform an out-of-space activity.
